We’ve been chartering yachts across Europe for decades, and we thought we’d seen it all until we booked with yachtinginsardinia.com. From the moment we paid, the headaches started, even before we stepped on board: strange contract clauses, equipment that didn’t work (thrusters, windlass, etc.), boats that clearly weren’t ready, days stuck instead of sailing, and even times when we genuinely didn’t feel safe.
The worst part? We didn’t see any of the bad reviews before booking. Many of them don’t show up in Google results unless you dig. Once the trouble began, we started looking closer and found plenty of other sailors describing the same issues.
On disembarkation day it all came into focus; we weren’t alone. Crews were frustrated and ignored by the company. Most charter guests are international and don’t know how to navigate local consumer-protection rules, which is why these practices keep happening. When issues were reported, some of them were never fixed.
After the trip, we kept talking to people in the marinas and met sailors who’d chartered with the same company during different weeks. They’d experienced the same problems and had seen other crews dealing with them too. This isn’t random bad luck; it’s a pattern.
This was our experience. Maybe others had a better one. What we went through, and what other crew members shared, were strikingly similar.
